'First 48' profiles MPD detectives and Seward murder

In December 2007, residents of the Seward neighborhood were shocked to learn about a female homicide victim who had been strangled and left in a burning car parked in an alley in their neighborhood.

This Thursday, May 15, that case will be profiled on The First 48, a reality show on the A&E Network that covers real-life crime investigations. Thursday’s episode will focus on Minneapolis homicide detectives Sgt. Rick Zimmerman and Sgt. Tammy Dietrich, following their actions in the first few critical hours of the case as they work to solve the murder.

The First 48 airs Thursday at 8 p.m.; for Minneapolis subscribers to Comcast cable service, the station number is 53. The program will be aired again on Friday, May 16, at 12 p.m.; Saturday, May 17, at 9 p.m.; and Sunday, May 18, at 1 p.m.
