Main Street bridge to close until October
Main Street bridge in Northeast Minneapolis will close March 26 for a replacement project headed by Hennepin County. The bridge is located between First and Third avenues NE and connects the East Bank and St. Anthony West neighborhoods.
The new bridge is expected to reopen in October of this year.
The project includes removing the existing bridge, constructing a new bridge and
retaining walls, rebuilding Main Street, concrete sidewalks, street lighting and
installing trees, according to a release from the City of Minneapolis.
Detours have been posted. Southbound traffic should use Broadway Avenue
Northeast to University and First avenues Northeast. Northbound traffic should use
Hennepin Avenue to University and Broadway avenues Northeast.
