Stupor Bowl XI — Feb. 1–2

Minneapolis bike messengers invite riders from town and around the country to once again test their mettle at Stupor XI, this Saturday, Feb. 2.

Despite below-zero temperatures, more than 300 people participated in last year’s “alley-cat” race, which invariably includes several Bridge-area stops. (Bikers race from stop to stop — often bars — before reaching the finish line.)

The festivities start Friday, Feb. 1, with pre-registration at Cars R Coffins, 3346 Lyndale Ave.,5-8 p.m., followed by a downtown bar party and Monopoly-style race starting at 9 p.m. at Grumpy’s Downtown, 1111 Washington Ave. S.

On Saturday, registration starts at 10 a.m. at One on One Bike Studio, 117 Washington Ave. N. The race route will be kept secret until starting time, 2 p.m. A “real stupor bowl XI-sized party” follows at the to-be-disclosed location. Beer is secured, according to a post on the Stupor Bowl XI website, www.myspace.com/stuporbowlxi.
