Marcy-Holmes Neighborhood Association (MHNA)
COMBINED BANK ACCOUNTS: The board agreed to combine its MHNA and Neighborhood Revitalization Program (NRP) bank accounts. The MHNA president, vice president, treasurer, and one member from the former NRP committee would have check signing authority.
CHANGE IN GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING SCHEDULE: The board agreed to move from monthly to quarterly general membership meetings. General membership meetings will now be held in January, March, June, and October.
The board will continue to meet monthly. As before, the board meetings are open to the public. Board members felt that eliminating the monthly general membership meetings would allow the board more time for discussion.
NRP REVOLVING LOAN PROGRAM APPROVED: MHNA general membership approved moving $150,000 of NRP money into a revolving loan program. The board and MHNA members will decide on the terms of the program.
Dave King from the Center for Energy and the Environment, the organization that administers Marcy-Holmes’ NRP funds, explained that other neighborhoods have used similar programs with success.
BOARD SUPPORTS PINNACLE SERVICES PLAN: The board agreed to support Pinnacle Services’ plan to develop the warehouse building at 722-724 Central Ave. for their new headquarters. The company is moving from Golden Valley. The board also supported Pinnacle’s requested variances to reduce the number of required parking spaces to 30 and to reduce the minimum width of the driving aisle required in the parking garage.
Land use committee member, Jo Radzwill reported that Pinnacle is committed to building as “green as possible.” According to Radzwill, Pinnacle also plans to install a licensed day care for its employees.
MASTER PLAN IMPLEMENTATION APPROVED: The board approved a $50,000 Master Plan Implementation Scope of Services. The money will be used “to develop marketing and business plans to attract stable residents to Marcy-Holmes, encourage residential property rehabilitation, and encourage University of Minnesota investment in Marcy-Holmes.”
SOUTHEAST LIBRARY IS OPEN: The Southeast Library is open on Tuesday and Thursday from noon–8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Since usage helps determine the hours and resources library branches are given, the board encouraged residents to visit the neighborhood library often.
