"Science on the Screen" at the Bell Museum — Jan. 17

This Thursday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m., the Bell Museum Auditorium will host a showing of the film, Gorillas of My Grandfather.

Part of the museum’s “Science on the Screen” programming, the hour-long Gorillas of My Grandfather tells the story of the discovery of a new primate species — the mountain gorilla — more than 100 years ago. The film, released in 2004, follows Andreas von Beringe, grandson of the German army captain who first photographed the mountain gorilla in 1902. Beringe attempts to retrace his grandfather’s footsteps leading to the extraordinary discovery.

General admission tickets are $7. Students, seniors and museum members pay $5. For more information, call the Bell Museum at 612-624-7083. The Bell Museum is located at the corner of University Ave. and 17th Ave. SE.
