Sign up for community ed, starting Jan. 3
Minneapolis Community Education classes are set to begin Jan. 22, with registration opening on Jan. 3. Community education offers a wide range of classes that cater to adults, children, families and communities at a variety of school sites in and near Bridgeland. Classes include instruction on home improvement, world languages, green home building and renovation, computers, dance and fitness.
Of the hundreds of classes beginning this month, one in particular has relevance for Bridgeland and its rich and colorful history. Local history buff and author Iric Nathanson is heading a class called “Milestones in Minneapolis History,” which specifically focuses on the the 1934 Seward truckers’ strike, streetcars, and the changing face of the Hiawatha Corridor, among other things. This class will be at Roosevelt School, 4029 28th Ave. S.
Information on “Milestones in Minneapolis History” and all other classes can be found at http://commed.mpls.k12.mn.us or by calling Minneapolis Community Education at 612-668-3800.
