Folk and blues, old and new at Eagles this month

The Eagles Club, 2507 E. 25th St., looks back and ahead this month with gigs by reunited folk legends and a couple of the Twin Cities hottest blues acts as they ready their chops for the international stage.

On Dec. 8, Bob Bovee, Pop Wagner, Mary DuShane and Bob Douglas will reunite as Mad Jack and the Black Label Boys. The show runs 7:30–10:30 p.m., and Adam Granger will join DuShane and Douglas for an opening-act batch of the Powdermilk Biscuit Band. Tickets are $12 in advance at the Eagles Club and at Homestead Pickin’ Parlor, or $15 at the door.

On Dec. 18, at 7 p.m., the Eagles will host the winners of the Greater Twin Cities Blues Music Society’s “Road to Memphis Competition,” Cadillac Kolstad and the Flats (band) and Cornbread Harris (solo). Both acts will travel to Memphis, Tenn. for the International Blues Challenge, Jan. 31–Feb. 2. Proceeds from the show will help pay the musicians’ way South for the competition.
