Arts and crafts sales begin this weekend — and last all month long

This year as always, local artists are offering their creations for gift-giving this season.

This weekend, Dec. 1–2, St. Lawrence Catholic Church and Newman Center holds its Christmas Bazaar at 1203 SE Fifth St. The sale features handcrafted items, homemade soups and sandwiches, holiday baked goods, jewelry, and photographs with Santa. To learn more, call 612-331-4839. Hours are:

Sat., Dec. 1, 9 a.m.–2 p.m.
Sun., Dec. 2, 8:30 a.m.–12 p.m.

Fired Up Studios, 1701 E. Hennepin Ave., will offer the ceramic works of more than 40 regional artists at their holiday store, open everyday, 11 a.m.–6 p.m., through Dec. 23. Pieces range from functional to decorative, and from $5 to $75. Almost half the proceeds from a silent auction at a preview party Nov. 30 went to St. Stephen’s Human Services program. And, as Fired Up notes, when you purchase a handmade gift, you are also giving to the person that made it. Visit www.firedupstudios.com.

On the other side of Bridgeland, Northern Clay Center, 2424 E. Franklin Ave., features the work of more than 70 artists working in ceramics. Their holiday exhibition and sale runs through Dec. 30; visit www.northernclaycenter.org for more on the sale and ongoing exhibits.

For something on the softer side, The Textile Center, 3000 University Ave. SE, offers handmade scarves, hats, mittens, jewelry, ornaments, and clothing for adults and children.
