Seward Co-op to sell present location, break ground at new site

SEWARD—Two months after receiving city approval for its redevelopment of the Riverside Market site, the Seward Co-op has reached an agreement to sell its present building at 2323 E. Franklin Ave. to Shega Foods, which bakes injera (Ethiopian flat bread), according to information from the co-op’s board of directors.

The co-op will conduct a ceremonial ground-breaking at the redevelopment site on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 1 p.m. Construction could start before the end of the year.

On Nov. 13, the co-op will present final plans for the new site, including the landscaping and the exterior elevations, to the Seward Neighborhood Group Community Development Committee at Matthews Park Center, 2701 E. 24th St., at 7 p.m.
