Plagues and Pleasures of the Salton Sea — Oct. 25 and 28

The Bell Museum presents two screenings of Plagues & Pleasures on the Salton Sea, a film directed by Christopher Metzler and narrated by John Waters. The offbeat documentary details the rise and fall of the Salton Sea, “an inland ocean of massive fish kills, rotting resorts, and 120 degree nights located just minutes from urban Southern California,… from the engineering mishap that created it, through its heyday as the “California Riviera”, to its present state as a decaying, forgotten ecological disaster,” states a press release.

The director will be at both screenings, which will be held Thursday October 25 at 7 p.m. and Sunday October 28, 2 p.m. in the Bell Museum Auditorium, 10 SE Church St. Screenings cost $7; $5 for students, seniors & museum members. For more information, visit www.bellmuseum.org.
