Third Ward Summit — Saturday, Oct. 13

On Saturday, Oct. 13, Ward Three Council Member Diane Hofstede will host the latest Third Ward Summit, the multi-neighborhood forums intended “to give people in the community a chance to hear updates on issues affecting the area, to share their concerns and to help set future priorities,” according to a release from the council member.

The summit takes place at City View Performing Arts Magnet School, 3350 N. Fourth St., 8 a.m.–1 p.m.

Hofstede will present a progress report on the Third Ward, Assistant Police Chief Sharon Lubinski will highlight public safety, and Director of Regulatory Services Rocco Forte will share information on neighborhood inspections, problem properties, and the issue of dangerous dogs. Each presentation will include time for questions from attendees.

The Minneapolis Public Works Department and the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) will give an update on the rebuilding of the I-35W bridge, including a presentation on the design by Linda Figg, president, CEO and director of bridge art for Figg Engineering, which is leading the design effort.

In addition, attendees may participate in “priority setting workshops” on the following topics:

• Environment and sustainability
• Economic and neighborhood development and foreclosures
• Public safety and inspections/Regulatory Services
• Technology
• The Arts

Food, beverages and nformation tables representing over 35 local agencies will also be provided.

The meeting site is wheelchair accessible. If you need other disability related accommodations, such as a sign language interpreter or materials in alternative format, contact Council Member Hofstede’s office at 612-673-2203.
