Back-to-school rally at Boom Island Park — Thursday, Aug. 30, 4–7 p.m.
The Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) will kick off the upcoming school year with its annual Back-to-School Rally at Boom Island Park, 700 NE Sibley St., on Aug. 30, 4–7 p.m.
The event will include face painting, a dunk tank, food, entertainment and prizes, including backpack giveaways. This year, MPS has added a “Tot-Lot” for pre-school age children and their families, as well.
Boom ISland Park is located just west of Nicollet Island and the Nicollet Island/East Bank neighborhood, upriver from the Plymouth Avenue bridge on the east bank of the Mississippi.
