Park Board concerts return to St. Anthony Falls area
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) will again offer a concert series at St. Anthony Falls this summer. While the 21-concert lineup at Father Hennepin Bluffs Park doesn’t measure up to the 54 concerts at Minnehaha Falls or the 109 concerts at Lake Harriet, at least it’s more than zero — the number of concerts at the Nicollet Island amphitheater since the Park Board privatized the park pavilion building next door four years ago.
The 20-year tradition of concerts there drew 10,000 people a year by the Park Board’s count, so get this tradition started by bringing a thousand of your friends to each of the shows at the overlook structure just upstream from the Stone Arch Bridge on the east bank of the Mississippi. Shows are 7–8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and noon–1:30 p.m. on Fridays.
